Step 1)
Pre-inspection: The carpet cleaner inspectes all
areas and rooms to be cleaned. Measurements are taken to calculate the actual cleaning investment cost. Questions and
concerns are addressed with honest answers.
Step 2) Most
furniture is moved: furniture is carefully moved out, placed back where it was
after the cleaning with protective blocks or tabs under each leg to guard against rust or stain transfer. We clean
around heavy, breakable, unstable or bulky furniture (rickity
or damaged furniture, glass hutches or curio cabinets, electronic equipment, entertainment centers, plants, trees, pianos/organs,
grandfather clocks, etc.) and don't charge you for that space.
For bedrooms, we clean the open areas around beds and dressers.
We will move beds on wheels per special request
along with night stands. We will move dressers if you take the drawers out and place them in another area not being cleaned.
Step 3) Vacuuming: (ONE
OF THE MOST IMPORTANT STEPS) A thorough vacuuming to remove maximum dry soil before
the actual cleaning begins. We use a commercial top-of-line vacuum to remove more dry soil than any household vaccum is capable
of. (This step is always skipped by the cheap carpet cleaners to reduce time even though it is a basic
cleaning step and REQUIRED to remove maximum soil).
Once dry soil gets wet, it turns into grity mud making it more
difficult to remove and may 'wick' up to the surface during the drying process. You may not see the dry soil, but it
is trapped under the surface. This gives you a less than satisfactory cleaning meaning you will need another carpet cleaning
soon.
Step 4) Pre-spotting: Spots,
espcially protein based stains are treated before using the hot water. (Uneducated
cleaners don't know heat may set-in a protein stain, making it nearly impossible to remove). We stock
our trucks with over 15 different spotting agents.
Step 5) Pre-conditioning: A pre-conditioner is applied to all areas to break down traffic area soil and general spots for a more thorough cleaning.
Step
6) Agitation: (Another very important step other cleaners skip) We agitate the
pre-conditioners into the carpet fibers with a professional grooming brush to massage each fiber making sure
all embedded soil gets loosened for a more thorough cleaning. (Most other cleaners just
spray & extract without the agitation, which only works on the surface of the carpet).
Step 7) Extraction
& Rinse: The carpet cleaner then disinfects your carpet, killing germs and
bacteria by repeatedly rinsing and extracting with about 210 degrees of hot water. This is done without over-wetting
your carpet or leaving a soil attracting residue behind.
Your carpet is left in a clean and neutral state.....no sticky soil attracting residue is left behind. This
means your carpet will stay clean longer. (so many other cleaner use harsh unsafe products
that always leave a residue to attract soil just like a magnet).
This step cannot be done by just anyone. Skill comes from education, training and experience and
is required to properly clean carpet. The carpet cleaner must know just how much water to apply using the right
amount of pressure from the truck mount equipment and must know when maximum water has been extracted. Racing through
the job is the first clue that your carpet cleaner didn't do a very good job and may have caused damage. If they use
too much water it may begin to cause damage to the carpet backing where the glue holds onto the fibers. If this
gets too wet too many times the carpet fibers will begin to pull away from the backing. Only an educated and experienced
carpet cleaner knows the correct techniques to use so this does not happen.
Step 8) Repeat & Rinse:
Any area(s) needing extra attention,
such as kid zones, pet zones, in front of sofas chairs or doorways, will get extra cleaning using
all necessary steps and treatments. We're not done cleaning until your carpet can't get any cleaner!
Step 9) Grooming: A professional carpet grooming brush is used to help lift the fibers, help the carpet dry faster by
allowing air to flow between fibers. Matted carpet takes longer to dry. (Another commonly skipped
step by other cleaners because it takes extra time).
Step 10) Speed
Drying: To further decrease drying time, we will place turbo carpet dryer(s) on
the floor while we are cleaning and move it room by room to help speed dry them. Your carpet
will take between 4 -24 hours to be bone dry depending on the type of carpet, its density and the weather outside.
NOTE: If it's raining or humid and
you don't have air conditioning, the carpet takes longer to dry because the saturated air can't absorb the moisture.
If you have carpet cleaned in a basement or lower part of the house on a concrete slab, it also takes longer to dry unless
you use a dehumidifier to help absord the moisture.
Step 11)
Final inspection: The carpet cleaner will have you inspect the cleaning results
to make sure everything looks its absolute best before we leave your home. The carpet cleaner will gladly go over
anything again if you don't feel it was given the best attempt.
The
cleaner will supply you with feet booties to
keep your feet dry and keep the carpet clean until it completely dries.
