"How Do You Deal with Spots
and Stains? What is the Right Way and the Wrong Way to Handle Them?"
Permanent Stains
The most common reason for a spot becoming
a permanant stain is treating the spot with a household cleaner (Pinesol, Mr. Clean, Tub n Tile, Glass Cleaner,
etc.) or maybe some special remedy you found on the internet.
Those cleaners can permanantly set-in a stain or damage your carpet. Always test in a inconspicuous
area first to make sure it's safe.
Stain Resistor/Protector
Almost all carpet is manufactured with some level of a stain resistance. The resistance
slowly wears away as the years go by, depending on the traffic in your home, usually within 12 - 24months, from foot
traffic and/or using an uneducated cleaner.
This allows carpet fibers and upholstery fabric to become vulnerable to permanent staining.
Protector shields fabrics and fibers so it's difficult for spots to make a bond creating a permanent stain.
Damage
Carpet sun fading, or discolorations from household bleach or other bleaching agents (some
cosmetics and some hair dyes) is not removable because the fiber dye has been striped away.
The only way to take care of a bleached spot is to either have it 'spot dyed' (never really matches exactly
and not a lot of carpet cleaners offer that service for various reasons) or have a small matching carpet section cut from
an unseen area , like a closet and seam it into the cutout bleach section of the carpet.
So, if the spot is removable, We will get it out!
We can't guarantee every single stain will come out because there are so many different situations beyond
our control that can cause a stain to be permanant. No two situations are the same.
Spots we've been successful at removing:
Coffee, Tea,
Nail polish, Lipstick,
Rust (a slight chance of removal, very difficult to remove) Furniture stain (slight chance of removal, also very difficult to remove), Koolaid, Plant stains, Coke, Juice, Milk Grease, Paint, Tar, and more
We GUARANTEE, NO RETURNING SPOTS If a spot that we
removed during the cleaning happens to pop back up, we will return once within 30 days of your cleaning to remove it
for Free. Just give us a call and we will schedule a time without a hassle or argument. We want you to be thrilled with
our service, not just happy or satisfied!
What Should You Do?
How To Attempt Spot Removal Without Damaging Your Carpet
or Fabric.... As soon as the spot happens, blot as much up as possibly can with a clean cotton or terry cloth towel or white
napkins (never used pattern or colored as it may transfer). Apply pressure to get the towel to absorb the spot until you can't
absorb anymore. Not a good idea to rub or agitate the area, as this can set it in. Use plain water to rinse the area, soaking it. Repeat the towel absorbing step with another clean towel If the spot remains, use a professional spotter from a professional carpet cleaning company. Pour some spotter
onto another clean towel and dab the spot thoroughly making sure you wet it pretty good, but don't pour the spotter onto the
spot like many people do because you won't be able to get it all out. Rinse the spot thoroughly with plain water until you feel you have gotten all the spotter out. Leaving some
spotter in the carpet will cause a residue and many times the spot will reappear within a few days. If after all of these steps, you still cannot get the spot out. You should call
us right away and schedule a visit so we can flush the spot out with our equipment and if needed, our stronger spot
treatments.
What Not To Do...
Not a good idea to start trying
all kinds of different products and treatments because they rarely work and you are only going to set the stain in, so
no one can get it out.
It's better to pay a little extra money for a visit from
a professional, than it is to spend all kinds of money on different remedies that don't work, only to get stuck
with an "ugly" stain.
We have many terrible stories of this happening to
our clients trying to save money and they all say, "I wish I didn't do that and called you instead."
